
Reminder for FMS Parents,
Free sports physicals. We are excited to have your student participate in sports. Please make sure to complete all the forms provided in the sports physical packet available on the district website, the link at the end of this message or pick up iforms in the Fairbanks front office. All athletes 5th -8th grade planning on playing sports during the 2024/2025 school year need a physical before they can practice. Physicals will be at Fairbanks Middle School Tuesday May 7, 2024 for the coming school year. Physicals are provided FREE as a courtesy of the Morenci School District on this day only. Only students that have returned completed sports physical packets by May 6,2024 will be allowed to see the Doctor to get their physical. No copies of the physical will be given for non school district sports.

The Lady Cat Softball team has secured a State First Round home game against Chandler Prep. The game will be played Saturday April 27th at 11:00.
Since this is an AIA sponsored event all tickets must be purchased through GoFan. Only tickets purchased online and AIA passes will be accepted for entry. Tickets will be checked at the gate when driving into the fields. Use the QR code to purchase tickets and come support the Lady Cats!

Mr. Goodman recognized Sherry Carbajal for the Staffulty of the Month at the board meeting. She is a kind and caring teacher and is always there for her students and other staff members. Mrs. Carbajal is not only a great teacher, but a great person. She treats her students like family and has an amazing heart!

February recognitions include; Richard Marquez (Welding), Leila Fallow (Construction), Victoria Alarcon (Microsoft Office) and Kiarah Fernandez (Culinary Arts. March recognitions include; Jaydan Lopez (Empowerment), Santi Gallegos (CTE Electricians), Alice Aguilar (Office Aide), Andrew McCallum (Web Study Electives - French II) and Illeana Bejarano (Yearbook). Congratulations!!

Recognitions for February include; Hunter Roumell and Olivia Medina (Electives), Jace Dominguez and Joshua Bylas (5th Grade), Yurianna Majalca and Jeremiah Wesley (6th Grade), Gabriel Martinez and Meena Mohamed ( 7th Grade) and Alejandro LaPrada and Delia Jones. Recognitions for March include; Solomon Mena and Ryder Nelson (Electives), Siena Martinez and Haddie Porter (5th Grade), Rosa Laney and Devin Aguinaga (6th Grade), Helena Culver and Ryan Waldron (7th Grade) and Serenity Rabourn and Peytin Corbell (8th Grade). Congratulations!!



Mrs. Hudman recognized Metcalf Leaders of the Month for February at the board meeting. Congratulations to Kindergarten - Emmi Pastika, First Grade - Oaklynn Aguilera, Second Grade - Skylar James, Third Grade - Raelynn Sotil-Atkins and Fourth Grade - Alex Robles. Great Job!!



Mrs. Kelly Baker and Ms. Brenda Street visited Ms. Julie Baker's "Mysteries of the Unknown" enrichment class on Thursday, April 18th. They shared their experience from 1981 when a UFO hovered over the MHS football field during Thursday night band and football practice. This event occurred up on the hill at the old high school. We appreciate you ladies for sharing your mystical experience!

Mrs. Aguilera and Ms. Montoya took some of their art students on a trip to Santa Fe! They braved 28 mph winds and a flash blizzard to enjoy a number of art museums, a farmers and art market, and the original MeowWolf exhibit! It was amazing to experience the innovation, imagination, and culture while showing our students that art is a viable and appreciated career!

Congratulations to Wesley Adams, Metcalf Elementary 1st Grader, for winning the AZ 529 State Dream Draw Write Contest! Wesley was among fifteen winners selected from across Arizona, sponsored by the AZ 529 Education Savings Program and the AZ State Treasurer's Office. Each winner received $529 towards an AZ 529 Education Savings Plan.
Wesley's winning drawing showcased his dream of becoming a scientist. MUSD is proud of Wesley and his creativity and talent, and we can't wait to see what he accomplishes on his journey as a scientist!

We truly love our community and the Morenci Fitness Team for coming and doing zumba, yoga, and helping us move our bodies. Thank you for celebrating Week of the Young Child and Work Together Wednesday with us.
We also got to work together to start our flower garden on our playground. Our students came together to plant flower seeds. We are excited to watch them grow.











MUSD is excited to announce that Frankie Gonzalez, a former Wildcat who played football at Lawson Stadium, is stepping up as the New Head Coach for MHS Football! Coach Gonzalez has been a key part of our team as an assistant coach for the last few years. With his deep connection to our program, he brings a special understanding of what it means to be a Wildcat.
Coach Gonzalez is passionate about guiding our athletes and stated, "I've always wanted to lead this great program and give back to the community and school that has given me so much." His focus will be on building relationships and shaping great individuals through football.
