Mr. Bryan Boling is the Principal for MHS and has been a member of the Morenci Schools faculty since 1990. He graduated from Morenci High School in 1981 and attended Northern Arizona University where he earned his B.S. of Science in Mathematics Education with a minor in Physics. He began his teaching career at Morenci Jr./Sr. High School in 1990 teaching Science. He went on to teach Algebra, Geometry, and Physics at Morenci High School. In August of 1994 he earned his first Master’s Degree from Western New Mexico University in Educational Counseling and became the Counselor. He served in this capacity until 2000, when after earning his second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Western New Mexico University, he became the Assistant Principal of Fairbanks Elementary School. He served in this role for 6 years and in August of 2006 he became and is currently the Principal of Morenci High School. He has been a member of the Morenci Lions Club for over 20 years, a long standing member of the Greenlee County Crime Victim Compensation Board, and a member and chair of the Eastern Arizona College Greenlee County Advisory Committee. He served as a Delegate on the 77th Arizona Town Hall (Values, Ethics and Personal Responsibility). Mr. Boling has conducted professional trainings for Beyond Textbooks Organization, the Arizona Educational Foundation, and Arizona School Administrators Mega Conference. In 2015 during his tenure as Principal, Morenci High School was designated an A+ School of Excellence from the Arizona Educational Foundation. He was named the Arizona Distinguished Administrator of the Year, Secondary Division 2014 – 2015 by the Arizona School Administrators Organization.   

Frank Ogas

Mr. Frank Ogas is the Dean of Students and District Athletic Director. He was born and raised in Silver City, NM and attended WNMU. He graduated with a B.A. degree in Biology and History. He earned a Double Masters in School Administration/Guidance & Counseling also from WNMU. Mr. Ogas was a Student Athlete, Teacher, Coach & Administrator in the Silver Consolidated Schools for 31 years. He coached football, wrestling, and baseball while at Silver High. He retired from New Mexico and moved to Morenci, AZ in 2005. He was employed to teach Biology and to be the Head Baseball Coach. In 2006 the baseball team reached the state semifinals with a 17 – 9 overall record. During his tenure at Morenci High School, he has been a head football coach, teacher and currently is an Administrator. From 2009 to 2014 he was the head football coach and lead the team to the state finals in 2012 with a 13 -1 record and an overall record of 37-18. He is married to Monica Ogas and have four children. Two attend Arizona State University: Frank, who is majoring in Education and Homeland Security and plays football; and Daniel who is majoring in Education and Theater. David attends the United States Naval Academy and Mary Natalie is a current MHS student, class of 2019.

Ilsa Castillo

Mrs. Ilsa Castillo is the Academic Coach for Morenci High School. Mrs. Castillo has been with MHS since 2003. She was originally hired as a mathematics teacher and has been in her current position since 2014. She earned her B.A. in Elementary Education at the University of Arizona and her M.A. in Teaching Mathematics through Western Governors University. Mrs. Castillo is married with four children. Among some of her responsibilities are helping to train teachers, facilitate state testing, serve on the district leadership team, and coordinate intersession.

Joe Garcia

Mr. Joseph ‘Joe’ Garcia was born in Morenci. He attended and graduated from Duncan High School in 2002, and immediately thereafter began attending The University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. He graduated from there in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Extended English Education. Soon after, he married his high school sweet heart Sonya Garcia. They have 4 beautiful children: Catalina, Cyndle, Joseph ‘Junior’, and Ernesto. Mr. Garcia worked as an English teacher in Willcox, Arizona. There he taught Junior and Senior Honors English for 6 years. He was also the Head Varsity Football and Head Varsity Baseball Coach respectively.

After Willcox, Mr. Garcia moved to Morenci in 2012. He taught Freshman English at Morenci High School and coached Football, Wrestling, and Baseball as an assistant. In 2017 Mr. Garcia became the Guidance Counselor. He currently serves as both the Guidance Counselor and Freshman English Teacher at Morenci High School in addition to Assistant Varsity Football Coach and Head Varsity Softball Coach.

Andrea Wilson

Mrs. Wilson is a Morenci High School graduate. She played tennis and was part of the MHS Pride Band as a flag girl. She was also part of various clubs and honor societies during her high school years. After graduating from Morenci High, Mrs. Wilson moved to Tucson, AZ where she attended the University of Arizona and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. She is currently completing her Master’s in Mental Health and Wellness with an emphasis in Family Dynamics. She stayed in Tucson after graduating from the U of A and gained experience in her field of study for a few years before moving back to Morenci. Mrs. Wilson has experience working for the State of Arizona, United Healthcare, and CODAC Behavioral Health Services. She has worked with children and adults and has a passion for mental health and helping individuals set and reach goals.

A message from Mrs. Wilson: “I am very excited to be back in my home town and working at the high school I graduated from. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat! This was my goal when I graduated high school. I want to help students achieve their goals and be successful young adults. I am ready to meet and help students during their high school careers as this will jump start success after graduating. High school can be some of the best years of your life and some of the most stressful too! Come on by the counseling department if you are in need of talking through something or need help regarding your academic career. We are here to help in any way we can!”

Amy Ciriello

Mrs. Amy Ciriello is the Office Manager and Registrar for Morenci High School. Mrs. Ciriello has been with MHS since 2015. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University with her B.S. in Family and Human Development. Mrs. Ciriello is originally from the Phoenix area and has lived in Manteca, CA, Elko, NV and Las Vegas, NV. As her family is originally from Morenci, she has spent many summers visiting Morenci. She is married and has four children. Some of her responsibilities include being a member of Site Council, tracking and maintaining attendance, and coordinating the music for passing periods daily.

Layna Ludvigson

Ms. Layna Ludvigson is the Athletics Secretary and Student Activities Assistant for MHS. She originates from West Texas and brings two handsome boys with her. Layna started her adventure with Morenci Unified School District when she began substitute teaching in 2014. By 2015, she was offered a full time position at the high school. Layna is an avid sports lover and enjoys being at MHS.

Ms. Brenda Carabeo Street is the Administrative Assistant to the Counselors for Morenci High School.
She has been with Morenci High School since 2012. Ms. Street is a single mother of two beautiful girls, Charleigh and Brooklyn. She is an alumni of Morenci High School and graduated with the class of 83’. Some of her responsibilities are to make schedules for the students, schedule students for GIFT and EAC classes, give the placement test for students interested in EAC classes, inputting data for the state, and proctor the LNA students. She is also the tennis coach and sponsor of the Leo’s Club. Least and foremost she is here for the kids

Juana Verlander

Mrs. Juanita Verlander is the Medical Assistant, Heath Assistant and Emergency Medical Technician for Morenci High School. She has been with Morenci High School since 2005. Prior to moving to Arizona, Mrs. Verlander attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces New Mexico. After moving to Arizona, she attended Eastern Arizona College in Safford Arizona for her Emergency Medical Technician certification. Mrs. Verlander is CPR and first responder certified. Some of her duties include attending to daily medical emergencies and needs of MHS students and staff, the AIA Assessor for the Certification/Hydration requirements of the MHS wrestling program, submits all required medical related reporting on the state level, and keeps up to date all Immunization records and required reporting. In addition, she is also the Assistant Band Director and Flag Line coach for MHS and class school sponsor for the class of 2019.

Mrs. Verlander is married to Mr. Greg Verlander and they have three daughters, one son, and five grandchildren. Mrs. Verlander is proud to be a Wildcat!
